The Congers (NY) Fire Department recently took delivery of a new rig intended to reach fires in more difficult sections of its response area.
According to CBS New York, the new fire apparatus will help the department extinguish brush fires in hard-to-reach areas such as those found along railroad tracks. The CSX Line cuts through Congers, and is a source of concern for first responders.
The rig features a 300-gallon water tank and stores buckets of foam conentrate on the rig. It has a booster line, but firefighters can supply the truck with hydrant water.
CBS New York also reports that under a mutual aid agreement, Congers will send the truck wherever it is needed in Rockland County, New York.
