The current Lebanon Fire District fire station does not meet code, leading to hope that voters will approve a bond measure to replace the fire station, reports 13 KVAL.
The existing fire station has already been renovated 10 times.
“Sleeping quarters for firefighters have no fire sprinklers, and some have no windows or secondary exits,” according to the district. “There also is no effective system to remove diesel exhaust fumes away from firefighters in the apparatus bays. These fumes can increase the likelihood of cardiovascular disease, cardiopulmonary disease, respiratory disease, and lung cancer.”
