A suspected drunken driver crashed into a Wayne Township fire truck early Saturday morning, but no one was hurt in the accident.
The Wayne Township Fire Department ladder truck was responding to a report of a fire at about 1:15 a.m., when it was struck by the SUV as it was turning south on Girl Schools Road from 10th Street, Capt. Michael Pruitt said.
None of the members of the fire crew, nor the male driver of the SUV, were injured in the accident, Pruitt said.
However, the ladder truck was severely damaged and is now out of service, he added.
Indianapolis police arrested the SUV driver, who has not yet been identified, on preliminary drunken-driving charges.
