Rochester (MN) Fire Station Continues on Schedule

The nearly $9 million fire station number 2 in Rochester continues to be on schedule, despite possible delays.

The Rochester Fire Department broke ground on the new location in May and crews have been working all summer long. However, officials did need to take care of some bumps in the road. “We had some property acquisition issues that put us behind 2-4 weeks,” Dep. Chief Vance Swisher of the Rochester Fire Department said. “Fortunately for us the construction crews on site, with the positive weather that we have had, and also their efforts, have been able to get us back on schedule,” he added.

Swisher says the move was made because the current number 2 station was built in the 1950’s and that service calls from the station overlap with others. Crews plan to finish in 2015.
