Wind-Whipped Fire Burns Buildings on NJ Boardwalk

A severe fire in an ice cream stand on the Seaside (NJ) boardwalk today has extended to at least two other structures.

The fire that began at Kohr’s Ice Cream near the boardwalk was swept up by a strong southeast wind and jumped to adjacent structures around 2:30 p.m., according to a report on NJ.com (http://bit.ly/17ZG4zQ). Several firefighters and residents were being treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The popular boardwalk on the Jersey Shore was severely damaged last year during Hurricane Sandy.
