Paul Conway Shields Pleased with FDIC Growth

By Chris Mc Loone

The goal of just about any organization is to set, achieve, and surpass goals. The Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) is no different as it sets out to exceed expectations year after year. Such efforts do not go unnoticed by its customers—the more than 900 exhibitors who make the trip to Indianapolis, Indiana, every year. “We have been attending this show for many years,” says Paul Conway, founder of Paul Conway Shields. “We are happy to see it grow year after year.” Although Conway would like to get out and see more of the show while he’s there, “having a booth ourselves, often times it is difficult to see as much as I would like,” he adds.

What can attendees expect to see at the Paul Conway booth this year? “Of course we will be showcasing our Paul Conway Helmet Shields, which are the ‘bread and butter’ for us,” says Conway. “Our helmet shields are where it started for us and we are proud to have become a ‘firehouse name’ across the country.”

Along with helmet shields, Paul Conway Shields and Equipment is an equipment supplier to offer firefighters, “the best in safety, quality, and value,” according to Conway. For example, the company will unveil its GEN 2 firefighting glove. Conway states that it is a firefighting glove that meets or exceeds the 2013 NFPA 1971 standard and is made in the United States. “GEN 2 provides our fellow firefighters with the protection they require without compromising comfort, dexterity, or natural fit,” adds Conway.

Conway says the company will also feature what he calls the ultimate firefighter’s tool—The Bowring™. The tool was designed by two Oklahoma firefighters, and offers many uses including: hose advancement, RIT firefighter drag, high-rise tool (use as a cheater bar, standpipe wheel, spanner wrench), gas shutoff, windshield removal and glass ripper, O2 wrench, door wedge, water shutoff, mattress hook, forcible entry tool, spanner wrench (fits pin lugs, rocker lugs, and storz lugs), gypsum board ripper (cleanly rips through while looking for hot spots) and Nance drill/Denver drill.
