Coolspring IN Fire Apparatus Hit in Crash

A Coolspring Volunteer Fire Department (IN) truck was struck by a semi while at the scene of an accident on I-94.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 1996 Ford conversion hit a guard rail and spun around, striking the guard rail three additional times.

A passenger in the van, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken for medical treatment after complaining of severe pain.

Members of the Coolspring Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to assist with removing people from the van.

The department’s truck was partially blocking the right lane when a 2000 Volvo semi hauling a rail container was in the middle lane.

The driver braked before changing to the left lane as he approached the crash scene. The semi lost control and jackknifed.

The trailer’s right rear struck the center left side of the parked fire truck.

Wesley Rogers, 22, was wearing a seat belt as he sat in the fire truck’s driver’s seat; he was not injured. The fire truck sustained approximately $2,000 in damage.
