America’s 911 Foundation Joins Joplin Effort

WASHINGTON, DC – America’s 911 Foundation, www.americas911foundation.org, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support and advocacy of Active First Responders and their families, travelled to Joplin, Missouri on Friday, May 27th in conjunction with the Foundation’s National Volunteer Emergency Team to aid in the rescue and recovery efforts taking place throughout the tornado stricken region.

The Foundation’s trailer was located outside the Missouri Southern State University’s Billingsly Student Center. The Foundation delivered campers and bedding in order to provide additional shelter and sleeping arrangements for volunteers. The Foundation provided additional EMS and First Responder volunteers through their National Volunteer Emergency Team (NVET), which was organized by the Foundation in an effort to create a national emergency response database to help identify regional volunteers to respond quickly in light of a tragedy, such as the event that occurred in Joplin.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to those who have been affected by this horrific natural disaster,” said Ted Sjurseth, Founder of America’s 911 Foundation. “The Foundation is dedicated to helping those in need and we feel very fortunate to be able to provide additional first responder volunteers to the region. Along with supplies, in this instance we understand that monetary donations are of great need to help volunteer organizations continue to provide assistance and materials to those affected by the tornado and we encourage our supporters to help this community in need.”

America’s 911 Foundation asks that anyone interested in becoming apart of NVET to please contact the Foundation’s Vice President, Christa Statler.
