E-ONE Delivers Its First HP 100-Foot Platform To Georgia

Issue 1 and Volume 13.

Five months after its debut at the 2007 Fire Department Instructor’s Conference (FDIC), Columbus, Ga., fire officials took delivery of the first E-ONE HP 100-foot platform.

“We were approved to buy a bucket truck, and the City of Columbus and Chief Jeff Meyer wanted the best truck out there for the citizens of Columbus, so that’s what we bought,” said Deputy Chief David Starling. “This truck was specifically designed for our department by the engineers at E-ONE to respond to firefighting, medical and rescue calls.”

City officials have supported the efforts of Columbus Fire & Emergency Medical Services to purchase state-of-the-art equipment, making it one of the most pioneering and versatile departments in the country.

“Columbus Fire and EMS is a very progressive department,” said Bob McDonel, dealer principal of FireLine, Inc., the exclusive E-ONE dealer for Georgia and South Carolina. “We were excited to help them specify this truck to meet their demanding, constantly-evolving needs.”

The 100-foot platform is the fourth E-ONE aerial for Columbus Fire & EMS.

The new apparatus boasts many innovative features, including an all-new variable speed control (VSC) system, which elevates and rotates quicker based on the platform position and delivers impeccable control, according to the maker.

The firefighter-inspired platform design covers 25.4 square feet with an interior working space of 18.9 square feet. Dual, inward-swinging doors on the 45-degree front angled corners of the platform provide 180-degree access to the scene and allow simultaneous transfer of personnel and equipment at three points for loading and unloading.

With a narrow 15-foot, 6-inch jack spread, the new E-ONE HP 100 platform requires less space for side- to-side setup than comparable products while providing excellent platform performance.

The platform also provides a 100-foot vertical reach and a 91-foot, 6-inch horizontal reach, on a 250-inch wheelbase. The design, according to the company, ensures the HP 100 offers unmatched maneuverability.
