Lion Apparel Buys National Safety Clean

Issue 4 and Volume 12.

Lion Apparel, a world provider of firefighter protective clothing, has acquired National Safety Clean Inc., one of the industry’s leading cleaning and repair services.

The protective clothing maker is the pioneer of a concept it calls TotalCare, designed to improve firefighter safety by assuming the responsibility for proper supply and care of protective clothing, optimizing the gear’s protective performance, the company said. It also helps a fire department comply with NFPA 1851 Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Structural Firefighting Protective Ensembles.

The acquisition of National Safety Clean will enhance Lion Apparel’s TotalCare service for firefighters in North America, according to the company. TotalCare, which is a registered trademark of Lion Apparel, was first employed by the London Fire Brigade in 1998 and is widely used in Europe and Asia Pacific regions.

In 2006, the concept was embraced in North America when the Chicago and Toronto fire departments entered into TotalCare partnerships with Lion Apparel.
