After receiving one of the largest apparatus orders ever awarded in the US fire service, KME Fire Apparatus is well into the delivery phase of the Los Angeles County contract.
The county placed orders for over 100 units, including engines, CAFS engines, and tractor drawn aerials. Many trucks are in-service and in heavy-use throughout the region.
Initial feedback from stations is very positive, according to KME, and fire departments nationwide are joining in the consortium purchase program. Departments in states such as California, Oregon, New York, Georgia, and Pennsylvania have all either expressed strong interest in or purchased through the add-on process to this contract.
Several dozen orders have already been received and more are expected as the consortium purchase opportunity has been extended until September 2007, according to the manufacturer.
