Elkhart Brass has achieved an industry first with its Unibody Valve, a true fire apparatus valve rated at 600 psi.
“This new 600 psi rating is a result of the innovations we have instituted at our facility, starting from our advanced computer aided design through our new state-of-the-art testing center,” said Don Sjolin, director of marketing at Elkhart Brass.
The 600 psi rating is being adopted in the US market as it is already the standard globally, according to Elkhart.
“This rating gives anyone the ability to standardize designs for traditional and elevated pressure models, both in the US and through global markets,” Sjolin said.
Elkhart Brass introduced its Unibody valve line last fall as the only valve in the industry completely engineered and designed with simple, trouble-free configurations, installation, operation and service in mind.
The Unibody Valve has an easy to configure, single-body construction with an actuator not dependent on the valve and has no gaskets or o-rings, according to the maker. It also has a stainless steel ball, dual self-adjusting seats, easy-to-service, swing-out body, bi-directional water flow and cross-compatibility for trouble-free switching. The product line requires only one valve per size, no matter which actuator is selected.
They have a 10-year warranty, are vacuum tested to 22 inches of mercury. The valves are constructed of reliable, corrosion resistant brass and meet, or exceed, all National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1901 standards.
