Streamlight 3AA ProPolymer® HAZ-LO® and the 3C ProPolymer® HAZ-LO®

EAGLEVILLE, PA – Streamlight® Inc., a provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, introduced two new intrinsically safe, alkaline battery-powered flashlights, the 3AA ProPolymer® HAZ-LO® and the 3C ProPolymer® HAZ-LO®. Both lights, which feature brighter C4® LED technology, are suitable for use in Division 1 hazardous locations faced by many industrial professionals.

The new lights received safety rating approval based on the requirements of the ANSI/UL 913 7th Edition CAN/CSA C22.2 NO 157-97 intrinsic safety standard from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC).  This intrinsic safety standard for electrical and electronic equipment used in Division 1 hazardous locations holds products to more stringent requirements than ever before.   The 3C ProPolymer HAZ-LO also is ATEX-approved.

Both lights also provide extraordinary brightness for a variety of tasks. The 3AA ProPolymer HAZ-LO delivers 120 lumens, 14,000 candela peak beam intensity and a beam distance of 237 meters, while offering a run time of 6.5 hours.  The 3C ProPolymer HAZ-LO provides 150 lumens, 7,000 candela and a beam distance of 167 meters.  It offers a run time of 18 hours.

The new polymer lights are made of a more durable thermoplastic material that has anti-static properties, as well as superior resistance to chemicals and solvents used in many industries. In addition, both lights feature a mechanical locking mechanism that prevents the battery compartment from being opened without the aid of a tool. This helps to prevent batteries from being changed out, or the housing from inadvertently being opened, in a hazardous environment.

Both of the new lights feature a C4 LED that is impervious to shock with a 50,000 hour lifetime.  The 3C ProPolymer HAZ-LO features a lightly textured parabolic reflector that produces a smooth, uniform beam with optimum peripheral illumination.  The 3AA ProPolymer HAZ-LO contains a smooth parabolic reflector that produces a tight beam, while also optimizing peripheral illumination.

Both lights are powered by easily sourced alkaline batteries.  The 3C ProPolymer HAZ-LO requires three “C” size batteries, while the 3AA ProPolymer HAZ-LO is powered by three “AA” size batteries.

Weighing 13.9 ounces and measuring 9.3 inches, the larger-size 3C ProPolymer HAZ-LO is ideally suited for situations where gloves are typically worn.  It also comes with a reinforced pocket clip that clamps securely to belts and gear. The more compact 3AA ProPolymer HAZ-LO weighs 7.5 ounces and measures 7 inches in length, and is ergonomically designed for maximum hand comfort.

Each model includes a tail switch for momentary or constant on operation, as well as a special feature preventing the flashlight from powering on if the batteries are installed incorrectly.

Other features of both lights include:

  • Visual indicators for proper battery indexing
  • Sealed switch housing design to protect the switch from corrosion caused by battery leakage
  • O-ring sealed
  • IP67 rated for dust-tight construction and waterproof operation to 1 meter for 30 minutes; IPX4 rated for water spray
  • Impact resistance-tested to 3 meters

The 3AA ProPolymer HAZ-LO is available in High Visibility Yellow, Orange or Black, while the 3C model comes in High Visibility Yellow or Orange. The MSRP for the 3C ProPolymer HAZ-LO is $75.00, and the MSRP for the 3AA ProPolymer HAZ-LO is $70.00.  Each light comes with Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.
