Fraser Valley civil engineer Brian Beard got an early New Year’s present the day before the celebrations: His 1922 Ahrens-Fox pumping fire engine and hose car arrived at the border. This rare, freshly-restored 90-year-old motorized firefighting apparatus completes what is possibly Canada’s best privately-owned vintage fire truck collection.
His newest acquisition is the most historic fire truck in his collection, and was rescued from half-a-century of neglect and abuse. In December, 1922 Ahrens-Fox Model J-S-2 piston pumper #1211, built in Cincinnati, was delivered to Station 9 in downtown St. Paul, Minn.
